The moment JK Rowling revealed a little more than intended

She is wizard at keeping secrets. Keeping her underwear to herself is obviously another matter.

The usually discreet JK Rowling found herself revealing a little more than she would have liked as she addressed a group of children in the US.

The writer who managed to keep Harry Potter's fate under wraps for seven books, bared her bra as she leaned forward.

Seemingly unflustered, she simply adjusted her neckline and kept talking.

Quote

Miss Rowling, 42, and estimated to have a £500million fortune thanks to her Harry Potter novels, was reading to children at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood when her dress let her down.

Her appearance was part of her first tour of the US for seven years.

Block Test post

ANNA Nicole Smith has been dead for less than a week. But already Howard K Stern - the man she allegedly "married" and who claims to be the father of her daughter Dannielynn - has done a deal with two American tabloid television shows.

Nice, eh? I wish the TV mob luck. Five years ago I was sent to Los Angeles to interview the former Playboy model and saw the way Stern controlled her financially.

He spent two weeks discussing the way his client would be paid. Cash upfront, and no interview if there was one dollar short. Non-negotiable.

He sat with Anna and together they counted every single note. He says his only concern is for Dannielynn. I wish I could believe that.

Meanwhile, two other men have come forward to claim parentage of the baby.

And Anna's estranged half-sister, Donna Hogan, has crawled out of the woodwork to insist that Dannielynn was sired by the late billionaire J Howard Marshall - the 89-year-old oil tycoon Anna married at 26 and whose estate she was still pursuing when she died.

According to Hogan, Marshall's frozen sperm was used for insemination.

Through allegation, counter allegation and the fog of confusion one thing is becoming perfectly clear, the motivation to take possession of Anna's vulnerable offspring amounts to a lot more than concern for her welfare.

"I know Anna loved her more than anything in the world," said Stern, clasping the five-month old bundle who is potentially worth £274million to his chest.

Dannielynn might well question those words when she's old enough to understand the complexities of her mother's short, tawdry existence. One can't help thinking that, even before she crawls, her life has been touched irrevocably by the curse of Anna Nicole's greed.

In some ways, Dannielynn is a new generation's Athina Onassis. Both poor little rich girls, forever mourning mothers they'll never know but forced to live in the shadow of their notoriety.

There's a world of difference between Christina Onassis and America's most famous gold-digger. One was an heiress, the apple of her doting shipping magnate father's eye - the other swapped frying chicken in smalltown Texas for pulling a decrepit, dirty old man and sucking the fat out of his wallet.

But both died young in tragic circumstances after a history of drug-abuse and wild, hedonistic excess.

For Christina's daughter, wealth was assured. Whether Dannielynn ends up with the millions her mother coveted is debatable, but she still inherits the same legacy of tragedy, loss and waste as Athina did.

Who would want that burden? Ask Peaches Geldof, whose mum Paula Yates died from a suspected heroin overdose six years ago. On the face of it she's a feisty young girl making her way in the world. But the nonstop party antics and desire for the limelight imply she's living up to the memory of her mercurial mum.

Anna Nicole Smith would be amazed by what people are saying about her now she's dead. Portraits of her as a vulnerable victim of social circumstance, punished for wishing to leave her trailer trash life behind, are well wide of the mark.

There was nothing naive about her. It's just ironic that from out of Anna's sordid story she has left behind something innocent, pure and sweet.

But there's no telling what damage the dead can inflict on the living. Already Dannielynn is being bandied about like a blank cheque. In any other case the state would step in to provide her with the chance she deserves, anonymity and normality.

I doubt she'll ever know either of those things. Anna Nicole is dead, but the real tragedy is that in her daughter, the circus lives on.

Black's Beach

Black's Beach is a two mile long, sandy strip situated at the base of majestic cliffs up to 300 feet high. It is formally known as Torrey Pines City Beach and Torrey Pines State Beach in that it is jointly owned by the City of San Diego and the State of California. There is a glider port atop the cliff overlooking the beach where hangliders, paragliders and remote controlled gliders can often be seen soaring.

Access to Black's Beach is very difficult due to the high cliffs and lack of improved stairways. The safest access is from adjacent beaches to the north and south, but this access may be obstructed by high tides or surf. The cliffs of Black's Beach are unstable and slides can occur without warning, so it is best to stay well away from them. Although not officially sanctioned, some patrons of Black's Beach practice nudism.

Lifeguard Protection:
  • There is no permanent lifeguard station at this beach. Lifeguards are usually on duty mid-day from Spring break through the end of October. Due to the remoteness of this beach, lifeguard assistance may take twenty minutes or more to arrive when lifeguards are not on duty at the beach. There is an emergency call box at the south end of the beach at the bottom of the road.
Rip Currents:

  • Most California beaches experience strong rip currents. The safety tips section provides an explanation of rip currents and some methods of freeing yourself if caught in a rip current. The best advice is to swim near a lifeguard.

Regulated Water Activity Zones:

  • Water activity is essentially unregulated. Surfers and swimmers may mix, but all are required to employ due care in avoiding injury to each other.

Surfing:

  • This is an excellent beach for surfing, particularly at the southern end.

Scuba:

  • Scuba diving is not recommended due to access problems and surf conditions.

Restrooms and Showers:

  • There are no restrooms on Black's Beach. Portable restrooms can be found at the top of the cliffs next to the Glider Port. Restrooms can also be found at La Jolla Shores, to the south, and at Torrey Pines State Beach, to the north.

Walkways:

  • There are no improved walkways at this beach. There are several natural paths, but they can be very hazardous and false trails abound. Use caution and observe warning signs.

Disabled Accessibility:

  • This beach does not offer disabled accessibility due to natural impediments.

Beach Fires:

  • There are no receptacles for beach fires. Open fires are therefore prohibited.

Regulations

  • Alcohol is prohibited on the State (north) section of the beach and is only permitted between 12:00 noon and 8:00 p.m. on the City (south) section.

Oh My

Vanilla Pudding Robbery

This is just too funny not to share. Excerpted from an article which appeared in the Dublin Times about a bank robbery on March 2.

Once inside the bank shortly after midnight, their efforts at disabling the security system got underway immediately. The robbers, who expected to find one or two large safes filled with cash and valuables, were surprised to see hundreds of smaller safes throughout the bank.

The robbers cracked the first safe's combination, and inside they found only a small bowl of vanilla pudding.

As recorded on the bank's audio tape system, one robber said, "At least we'll have a bit to eat."

The robbers opened up a second safe, and it also contained nothing but vanilla pudding. The process continued until all safes were opened.

They did not find one pound sterling, a diamond, or an ounce of gold. Instead, all the safes contained covered bowls of pudding.

Disappointed, the robbers made a quiet exit, each leaving with nothing more than a queasy, uncomfortably full stomach.

The next morning the newspaper headline read: .

Love letters (Test post)

A husband wrote the following letter for his wife and left it on the dining room table:

To My Dear Wife,

You will surely understand that I have certain needs that you, being 54 years old, can no longer satisfy. I am very happy with you and I value you as a good wife. Therefore, after reading this letter, I hope that you will not wrongly interpret the fact that I will be spending the evening with my 18 year old secretary at the Comfort Inn Hotel.

Please don't be upset - I shall be home before midnight.

When the man came home late that night, he found the following letter on the dining room table:

My Dear Husband,

I received your letter and thank you for your honesty about my being 54 years old. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that you are also 54 years old. As you know, I am a math teacher at our local college. I would like to inform you that while you read this, I will be at the Hotel Fiesta with Michael, one of my students, who is also the assistant tennis coach. He is young, virile, and like your secretary, is 18 years old. As a successful businessman who has an excellent knowledge of math, you will understand that we are in the same situation, although with one small difference: 18 goes into 54 a lot more times than 54 goes into 18!!!

Therefore, I will not be home until sometime tomorrow.

Test

I'm one of those who couldn't wait until the morning to get hold of this book. I literally battled rain and cold weather with my sister to get our copies at 12.15 am, July 16, in a local bookstore in Argentina. According to my dad, I'm slightly nuts for doing that :)

In my opinion, though, this book was well-worth the extra effort. After picking it up, I returned to my house and started to read it. I just finished it, and I can sincerely say that it is simply outstandingly good. Yes, the other books were awesome too, specially the 4th and the 5th, but I think that Harry's world is becoming more defined with each book, and that makes for a thoroughly engaging reading experience.

What is new in this book?. Well, after having to come to face with the fact that Lord Voldemort is alive, the wizard community is in an uproar, and quite frightened. Cornelius Fudge has been sacked as Minister of Magic, and an Auror has been named in that position. Harry, Ron and Hermione get their O.W.Ls (Ordinary Wizardry Levels), and have to decide what courses to take for their N.E.W.Ts (Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Tests), something that will define their future careers. Plots abound, and danger is omnipresent throughout the book. There is a new teacher of Defense against the Dark Arts, and also an eccentric new Potions' teacher. Of course, there is much more, including a death that I bet will make you cry, and that hurts Harry enormously. I won't tell you who dies, only that the event involves the Half-Blood Prince, and that I think it was a sacrifice rather than a murder.

But what's the point of telling you all this if you can read the book, and enjoy it as much as I did?. Suffice it to say that this is a worthy addition to the Harry Potter series. There is adventure, some romance, and many more elements that add up to make the kind of book that you simply must read. And now, after staying up all night in order to read this book, I really need to catch up on my sleep. If you haven't guessed my opinion on "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" yet, I'll say that I highly recommend it. Run to get your copy, if you don't already have one, and share the magic :)

Under the sea

The seaweed is always greener
In somebody else's lake
You dream about going up there
But that is a big mistake
Just look at the world around you
Right here on the ocean floor
Such wonderful things surround you
What more is you lookin' for?

Under the sea
Under the sea
Darling it's better
Down where it's wetter
Take it from me
Up on the shore they work all day
Out in the sun they slave away
While we devotin'
Full time to floatin'
Under the sea

Down here all the fish is happy
As off through the waves they roll
The fish on the land ain't happy
They sad 'cause they in their bowl
But fish in the bowl is lucky
They in for a worser fate
One day when the boss get hungry
Guess who's gon' be on the plate

Under the sea
Under the sea
Nobody beat us
Fry us and eat us
In fricassee
We what the land folks loves to cook
Under the sea we off the hook
We got no troubles
Life is the bubbles
Under the sea
Under the sea
Since life is sweet here
We got the beat here
Naturally
Even the sturgeon an' the ray
They get the urge 'n' start to play
We got the spirit
You got to hear it
Under the sea

The newt play the flute
The carp play the harp
The plaice play the bass
And they soundin' sharp
The bass play the brass
The chub play the tub
The fluke is the duke of soul
(Yeah)
The ray he can play
The lings on the strings
The trout rockin' out
The blackfish she sings
The smelt and the sprat
They know where it's at
An' oh that blowfish blow

Under the sea
Under the sea
When the sardine
Begin the beguine
It's music to me
What do they got? A lot of sand
We got a hot crustacean band
Each little clam here
know how to jam here
Under the sea
Each little slug here
Cuttin' a rug here
Under the sea
Each little snail here
Know how to wail here
That's why it's hotter
Under the water
Ya we in luck here
Down in the muck here
Under the sea

Love Cats

We move like cagey tigers
We couldn't get closer than this
The way we walk
The way we talk
The way we stalk
The way we kiss
We slip through the streets
While everyone sleeps
Getting bigger and sleeker
And wider and brighter
We bite and scratch and scream all night
Let's go and throw
All the songs we know...
